Read-through of "Deathtrap" by Ira Levine
Aug 25 2010 06:30 - 08:30 pm
Maskers Waterfront Theater
43 Front Street
Belfast, Maine
Please join us for an initial read-through of Ira Levin's "thriller in two acts". Auditions for "Deathtrap" are that Saturday morning and these Wednesday readings are a great opportunity to become familiar with the script in a casual setting. Anyone is welcome at a reading, regardless of whether they plan on auditioning.
Roles that will be cast following Saturday's audition are:
• Sidney Bruhl, a playwright who desperately needs a... hit. Male, to play 50 plus - lead
• Clifford Anderson, a playwright who has written a sure-thing, to play 25-35 - lead
• Myra Bruhl, somewhat controlled-by and married-to Sidney, to play 30-40 - large supporting
• Helga Ten Dorp, a Dutch woman with ESP (she has an accent: Dutch or modified German would work), to play over 50 - supporting; great character role
• Porter Milgrim, Sidney's agent, to play over 45 - supporting
The time is 1978. The place: the home of Sidney Bruhl in Westport, CT - the "gold coast" of Fairfield county.
"Deathtrap" will open on September 30 and run for 2 weekends at the Front Street Theater.
Bart Shattuck directs. The auditions consist of reading from the script, but Mr. Shattuck will also be happy to hear any short prepared monologues.
